GSIS turns over Coconut Palace to Vice President

PASAY CITY — The Coconut Palace will officially be the office and residence of the country’s vice president.

The palace by the Manila Bay was set for turnover by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

Vice President Jejomar Binay will lead the official turnover with GSIS President Roberto Vergara.

The Vice President and Vergara will tour the state pension fund agency’s museum at the building.

It will be the first time in many presidencies that the OVP will have its own exclusive residence.

Late last year, Binay announced their transfer to the historied Coconut Palace, to give the OVP the dignity it deserves.

Present plans include Binay holding offices at the ground floor, with the second floor remaining as a mini-museum.

The OVP’s administrative section will remain at its present location at the PNB Building near Roxas Boulevard.
