ShareThisPASAY CITY – Not actor-turned-lawmaker Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. but Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is the most handsome senator, at least in the eyes of veteran lady senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.

In a very rare occasion, Santiago noticed Trillanes’ physical appearance while the young senator is delivering sponsorship speech for his Senate Bill No. 2671, or the Act Strengthening the Career Executive System during Wednesday’s session.
After Trillanes’ speech, Santiago approached the rostrum not to interpellate but to say: “I noticed that Senator Trillanes is the youngest and the most handsome senator.”
However, Santiago also noticed that Trillanes is ‘apprehensive’ that he doesn’t even give smiles every time they cross each other paths at the Senate building hallway.
“I wanted to propose that he would look even better if he attempted to smile once in a while,” Santiago said.
“He’s (Trillanes) apprehensive that if he is crossed any moment, he might start marching on the street in front of the Senate,” the lady lawmaker humorously added.
Santiago clarified that she just wanted to ask for one minute suspension to congratulate Trillanes for his first speech at the session hall since he walked out of detention last month.
“What I really want to say is this is the maiden speech of our newest colleague. I therefore move for a one minute suspension to congratulate him and welcome him formally to our ranks,” the smiling Santiago said.
Trillanes was elected in 2007 election while in detention for leading the 2003 Oakwood mutiny in protest against the graft and corruption in the military during the time of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Trillanes has already applied for the amnesty proclamation signed by President Benigno Aquino III late last year for the more than 300 soldiers and supporters of the three majority military uprisings during Arroyo’s term.
