Dingdong and Marian, taking their time

Is Dingdong Nantes ready to bring to the altar his longtime girlfriend Marian Rivera?

The popular actor was asked the question at a press conference for the annual Philippine Arts Festival of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) where he appeared as Youth Ambassador of NCCA, but he obliquely answered it. The month-long festival will start at the Rizal Park on January 30 with events around the country for the month of February, including Baguio City.

Is he avoiding it? Or is he just not ready to tie the knot, at this stage when he is and she is at the height of their careers?

Dingdong said that for sure they are taking things one step at a time, so wedding bells are not coming in the coming days.

“Araw-araw kong naririnig ang kampana!” he even joked at the press conference. “Okay lang yun, malapit kami sa church, e. Hindi natin alam. One step at a time.”

He admitted though that he has high hopes that Marian is the right girl for him and the one whom he can spend the rest of his life with.

At the same time, he said he wanted to have more time with Marian, however busy they are in their careers.

According to Dingdong, he promised to work on his schedule this year to make sure to spend more time with his girlfriend.

He said that if they decide to tie the knot soon, they will surely announce it to all their fans and loved ones.

“Kung mangyari po yun, siguradong malalaman nyo. I’ll be very proud to announce it,” he noted.

Dingdong is currently taping with GMA Network primetime comedy romance soap “I Heart You Pare” with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, now Mrs. Ogie Alcasid, while Marian is working with her primetime comeback project also with GMA Network entitled “Amaya”.

“Ang plano ko talaga, ayusin yung pag-manage ng oras kasi ang daming responsibilidad, pero syempre hindi pwedeng mawala yung time sa sarili,” he added.

As the love month of February approaches, is he and Marian leaving the country for a vacation as they did in Spain and other countries in the past?

Dingdong has a ready answer to the poser. He said by February 7, his upcoming primetime series will air on GMA Telebabad and Marian is also doing some showbiz projects.

“By that time busy na sya sa ‘Amaya’ then ako naman sa ‘I Heart You Pare’, pero siguro maganda na makauwi man lang ako ng isang magandang painting para sa kanya. Kukuha ako ng isang symbolic gift na ma-iuuwi ko for her,” he said at the NCCA press conference.

The popular actor, however, pointed out that he will gift Marian with a painting next month and may ask Marian for a date in Baguio on Valentine’s Day.

“Malamig daw sa Baguio, gusto kong puntahan…pero kung papayagan, sana,” he said.

Dingdong admitted that he and Marian are quite concerned about stargazers’ prediction that their relationship would not last. He said that he and Marian had talked about it and decided to fight off the prediction.

“Kailangan palaging sentro ang Panginoon sa isang relationship because kung ‘yon ang mangyayari, Siya lang ang magga- guide sa’yo. No amount of hula o anuman ‘yan na makakasira sa’yo,” he said.

Meanwhile, the comely actress now has a good vision after a successful lasik surgery at the Makati Medical Center.

Marian has been wearing contact lens since high school.

She said she was lucky that her boyfriend Dingdong never left her and witnessed the whole lasik surgery.

The actress said she got a “significant gift” from Dingdong, but quickly added it was not a wedding ring.

She disclosed it was a Dyesebel life-size figure the actor ordered just for her.

She confessed that Dingdong also gave her a gift wrapped in a big box but as to what it is, she refuses to disclose.

Marian actually has been constantly wearing a ring which she said was her gift to herself and not from Dingdong.

She said that aside from the ring, she finally decided to replace her old van with a new one, which will be of good use while taping her newest soap.

“Matagal na kasi akong sinasabihan na magpalit na ako ng sasakyan kasi three years na din yung van ko, ito finally meron na. Kasi siyempre mas malayo yung taping, kaya dapat mas comportable,” she said.
Her newest car worth around P6 million is the 2010 model of Savana Explorer of General Motors.
