Venus said she wants also to appear in a dramatic role, adding that she will leave it to ABS-CBN to fashion her career.
She said she is “extremely honored to become part of the country’s biggest network” as she signed an exclusive five-year contract with ABS-CBN.
Present at the contract signing were ABS-CBN chief operating officer Charo Santos-Concio, Channel Head Cory Vidanes and head of TV Entertainment Production, Linggit Tan.
Accompanying Venus were Binibining Pilipinas Chairperson MS. Stella Marquez-Araneta, executive board members Conchitina Bernardo and Pitoy Moreno, and Director for Marketing, Sienna Olaso.
In signing up with ABS-CBN, Venus turned down popular television host Willie Revillame who had invited her to be his co-host in his TV 5 daily show, “Willing Willie.”
The beauty from Camarines Sur, who is the reigning Binibining Pilipinas-Universe and fourth runner-up at the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant, had become famous after her crown was taken away from her and she fought for it and succeeded.
In dethroning her, the contest organizers said she failed to make certain disclosures about her life during the contest.
In the international contest, she was a top favorite but went down fourth runner-up after her perceived “major, major” mistake during the pageant interview in Las Vegas.
Now, she is out to prove to everyone that she’s worth more than the infamous catchphrase.
Venus said she made the decision to join the big network in conjunction with those of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPIC), which manages her career.
With its five-year partnership contract, ABS-CBN will be airing the beauty contest once the domain of a rival network.
The Binibining Pilipinas pageant will be held in March and its international counterpart, the Miss Universe Pageant, will be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil in September.
“Alam ko naman na nandiyan ‘yung tiwala ng Binibing Pilipinas sa ABS-CBN and ganu’n din naman kayo sa amin,” Venus told “TV Patrol” after the contract signing.
“Actually matagal ko na rin inaantay na magkaroon talaga ng tahanan and I think this would be the best time para magsimula na rin ako at ang Binibing Pilipinas sa mga… tatahakin namin. Maraming salamat. Hindi po kayo nagkamali at hindi rin ako nagkamali sa pagpili sa inyo.”
