SUCCESSFUL AND WARM “PINOY HOMECOMING 2011” LAUNCH IN GREATER CHICAGO

CHICAGO, IL. Even with snow flurries and below freezing temperatures, friends and guests of Philippine tourism flocked to Beau Jolie by Victoria to attend the “Pinoy Homecoming 2011” Launch. Despite the cold, blustery weather, The Philippine Tourism – Chicago, led by Director Vernie Velarde-Morales, prepared for their guests, ranging from members of the media to the travel trade; from community and business leaders to out of state travelers; and from respected professionals to energetic youth leaders. Throughout the evening, the guests were kept warm, well informed and entertained. They were happy to have come.

SMILES AFTER A HEARTWARMING “PINOY HOMECOMING” LAUNCH. The PDOT Chicago team smiles at the conclusion of Tuesday night's hugely successful and well-attended "Pinoy Homecoming 2011" launch in Chicago. Joining Tourism Director Vernie Velarde-Morales (center) in this photo are (from left): Mulong Yambao and Glenn Bermejo (presentations and entertainment advisers), Shein Lacerna and Marianne Cabrera (very able full time staff), Jennifer Opena and Jonnalyn Benolerao (happy temp support staff for the launch).

UWI NA TAYO! Guests of the recent “Pinoy Homecoming 2011” Launch in Chicago enjoyed informative messages and engaging presentations given by the Philippine Consulate, the Philippine Trade Office, Philippine Airlines, and of course, by Philippine Tourism Director Vernie Velarde-Morales. The crowd attentively engaged themselves in each of the presenter’s talks, learning more about the Consulate team, government’s new challenges, PAL’s thrusts, Philippine Tourism’s accomplishments, and its goals under the President Noynoy Aquino’s new administration. Then, they were shown how they, as Filipino Americans, can help in promoting travel to the Philippines.

Community leaders came to know more. The Philippine Department of Tourism Chicago invited members of the travel trade, media, young professionals, prominent professionals and respected business and community leaders to be a part of the Greater Chicago event, the “Pinoy Homecoming 2011” Launch.
