Lovi Poe is FAMAS best actress

Actress Lovi Poe, daughter of the late Movie King Fernando Poe Jr., has been voted this year’s best actress by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS).

Lovi won the top award for her role as an incest victim in “Sagrada Familia” while Allen Dizon romped away with the Best Actor award for his arresting role as a student activist-turned-underground cadre in ATD Entertainment’s “Dukot.”

Gloria Diaz won the Best Supporting Actress award as the subservient wife of an incestuous husband in “Sagrada Familia” while Emilio Garcia, who played the husband in the same movie, took home the Best Supporting Actor award.

Joel Lamangan was named Best Director for “Dukot” which he said was his tribute to the political disappearances of state enemies and human rights fighters in the Philippines.

An ABS-CBN report of Boy Villasanta stated that the 58th edition of the FAMAS awards night held at the Teatro ng GSIS in Pasay City was marred by blunders and technical problems.

“This is my first FAMAS award,” a visibly happy Lamangan was quoted by the network as saying.

He was doubly happy when his political drama “Dukot” was adjudged as the Best Film.

Despite the production errors, FAMAS is gearing up for the next awarding ceremonies next year.

Master showman German Moreno has called on people in the showbiz industry to downplay the said awards night kinks.
