ShareThisQUEZON CITY (PinoyNews) -World boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is not the country’s top taxpayer after all.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) listed Pacquiao only as the 113th top taxpayer in a list of 500.
Two of the richest businessmen in the country—Ramon S. Ang of San Miguel Corp. (P24.6 million) and Henry Sy (P25.1 million) were ranked only sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 2009 list.
On this list, they are outranked by Wilfredo Buendia Revillame (of Wowowee and Willing Willie television fame), who placed third for paying the government P57.2 million in 2009.
The top two taxpayers in the BIR list are little-known Elaine Bautista Gardiola who paid P59.5 million and Rosabelle Claricia Bandong who paid 57.8 million).
Others in the list of top taxpayers include singer, television host Sharon Cuneta, 18th with P19.5 million; television host Kris Aquino-Yap, 39th with P12.7 million; actor Piolo Jose Nonato Pascual, 50th with P11.5 million.
