MANILA- The Department of Justice (DOJ) is looking at the possibility of offering a reward to anyone who can give information which can result in the immediate capture of Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima said this option, if allowed, will greatly expedite the hunt for the fugitive lawmaker aside from showing the government’s resolve to prosecute one of the alleged masterminds in the 10-year-old abduction – murder of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.
She added that reward option will be discussed with the National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation Detection Group.
“That (cash reward) can be discussed in a meeting. We will brainstorm what further efforts or measures that be needed to be taken for successful implementation of warrant of arrest,” De Lima stressed.
She also warned Lacson’s supporters from coddling him as they can face charges as accomplice for aiding him to evade arrest.
“The people aiding him then they should answer for that they can be charged as accomplices etc.,” she concluded.
