He maybe wishing for the star but former movie teenage throb Gabby Concepcion is still wishing a movie that will reunite him with ex-wife, the megastar Sharon Cuneta.
It may not be farfetched considering that after more than 12 years of estrangement, Gabby, a long-time resident of San Francisco, California, had reunited on television, one of which was in the show no less of the megastar on ABS-CBN Channel 2.
And their daughter, KC Concepcion, herself an actress, singer and television host and popular product endorser now, was there in the television show which easily became the talk of the town.
Gabby is, indeed, aching to reunite with ex-wife Sharon Cuneta—on the silver screen, that is, according to a report of Neil Ramos.
Concepcion said on Boy Abunda’s “The Buzz” on ABS-CBN that he will do it for the fans. “It’s still a wish na sana mangyari [ang movie], kasi marami ang nagre-request [na fans],” he said.
Eager to titillate fans, Concepcion said he wanted to do a love scene with Cuneta—eliciting shrieks from the studio audience.
The actor set a condition for the reunion movie – it should be a torrid love affair.
“On one condition, dapat torrid,” Gabby said with a laugh, to the delight of the studio audience.
He quickly added though that he was just joking.“Ako naman ngayon ang magjo-joke,” he said.
Concepcion, who is promoting a new movie, was apparently alluding to a gag Cuneta made during a separate interview concerning Concpecion’s supposed encouraging reaction to her alleged weight loss.
“I think he’s regretting,” said she, tongue-in-cheek.
Reminded of the matter, Concepcion waxed serious, according to Neil Ramos in his report. “I don’t regret anything I do in my life,” he insisted.
“It was a joke, she was just joking,” show host Boy Abunda interjected.
Concepcion’s retort was sharp. “Jokes are half meant ‘di ba?”
In the end though, he made light of it by saying, “I’m kidding. Buti nga ngayon nakakapagbiruan na kami.”
Concepcion and Cuneta married in 1984 at the Manila Cathedral with no less than then President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos standing as sponsors. They have a daughter, Kristina Cassandra, or KC. They separated in 1987.
Sharon had actually filed charges against Gabby in connection with their marriage. It was gathered that Gabby was still married when he married Sharon. After they separated, Gabby again married a model and when he went to the US he again married another woman with whom he has children.
The actor left the country in the heat of the 1995 “Filmfest Scam” which involved also Ruffa Gutierrez. Gabby returned to much fanfare in 2008.
