MAKATI CITY – The Philippine peso hit a 29-month high Thursday, October 14, after the dollar fell in Asian trading as Singapore’s central bank allowed the Singaporean dollar to strengthen.
The peso closed at P43.165 a dollar, gaining 20 centavos from the previous day’s finish at P43.370 a dollar.
Its close was its strongest since May 21, 2008 when it finished at P43.24 a dollar.
The peso started trading at P43.30.
Dollars transacted amounted to $1.213 billion, up from $1.039 billion last Wednesday.
