Yes, Virginia, the problem on the venue of the December wedding of the popular couple really happened, but thanks to a friend, a second venue was found just in time.

No less than President Benigno S. Aquino III will be there at the wedding and so, the security problem of the event, may have been the reason for the rejection of the first venue.

Ogie revealed his concerns about the rejection and his frantic search for a new venue during an interview on “Showbiz Central” on GMA 7 and reported by Alex Valentin Brosas in the Manila Bulletin.

“Alam mo, ‘yung concern ko d’yan sa isyung ‘yan actually was really Regine,” Ogie said on the show.

“I could not… when I was told that the venue rejected us and for no apparent reason… wala silang rason. Sinabi lang nila na hindi namin kayang idaos ang inyong selebrasyon dito sa lugar namin, no specific reason was told to me, no,” he said.

“Noong narinig ko ‘yung balita, medyo na-stress ako because how could I tell this to my bride-to-be, ‘di ba? How could I explain to her (na) wala tayong venue?” he said.

The singer-composer admitted he felt frustrated with the rejection as “we had many, many talks with the venue already.”

“Marami na kaming naayos na mga detalye hanggang sa siyempre email, email. Okay ‘to, okay ‘to. And then they just called (and told us), ‘We can’t do it,’” he said.

Ogie, who delayed informing Regine about the rejection, had moved on from the wedding predicament.

He said on television: “Ang sa akin, eh, love moves in mysterious ways. Perhaps this venue is not meant for us. And let’s move on. Tapos na ‘yon. Kaya lang siguro ito lumabas kasi my fiancée, bride-to-be… she was really, really upset because she already saw herself in that venue. She already saw herself walking down the aisle and meeting that handsome young man. And I stressed young man. She’s very disappointed.”

Regine has her own words about the issue: “We’ve been working on it for two months. Hindi namin masabi-sabi talaga ‘yung lugar para may privacy naman ng konti. Pero we’ve been talking with them, we’ve been planning the whole wedding, ‘yung motiff ng wedding.”

“ Lahat naka-base sa lugar nu’ng venue. [But] since they backed out, we need to start from scratch,” Regine added.

Michelle Van Eimeren, Ogie’s ex-wife, will participate in the couple’s wedding by providing flowers.
