ShareThisMANILA — President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III has appointed Associate Justice Edilberto Sandoval as Presiding Justice of the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan.
Sandoval was nominated by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) in its letter to the Office of the President (OP) last August 17.
Sandoval was the Acting Presiding Justice of the Sandiganbayan before President Aquino made the appointment.
Sandoval handled the plunder charges against former president Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada in 2001.
In a one-page transmittal letter to Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato Corona, Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa Jr. confirmed the appointment of Justice Sandoval as Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice effective Sept. 17, 2010.
