ShareThisThis time, the Bureau of Internal Revenue is going after actor Mark Herras after going after famous personalities like Judy Ann Santos, John Lloyd Cruz and singer-businesswoman Claire dela Fuente
Mark is being linked as an owner of a club in Quezon City and that he allegedly failed to pay the proper taxes for such investment and possible earnings from the club.
The GMA Network star, however, denied ownership of any business or forming part of any corporation whatsoever.
Herras made the denial as the BIR filed a complaint against the actor for violating Section 266 of the Tax Reform Act of 1997.
In the complaint filed with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, BIR lawyers Geraldine Llaguno and Oliver Correa said they issued a subpoena to the actor ordering him to present the account books for 2008 concerning Clubserv Bar and Restaurant located in Cubao, Quezon City, which they alleged is owned by the actor.
The lawyers claim that the latter purportedly ignored their summons.

Under the 1997 Tax Reform Act, failure to obey the BIR’s summons is punishable by a fine ranging from P5,000 to P10,000 or imprisonment of one to two years.
Neil Ramos, reporting for Manila Bulletin, quoted Herras as saying he does not own a club or a restaurant but admitted being part of Clubserv’s “conceptualization.”
Herras said his involvement in the bar stops at that, explaining that the project failed to push through.
“Wala akong business. Kahit kanino ninyo itanong wala akong business,” the actor insisted in an interview with GMA News “24 Oras,” last Sept. 10.
Mark said he was willing to cooperate with the BIR to clear his name.
“Kung sino man iyong taga-BIR, I’m ready to explain kung ano ‘yong alam ko and I’m ready to share at sabihin kung ano man ang tungkol sa nangyaring ‘yun,” he told the GMA Network.
Herras’ manager, Lolit Solis said that she had encouraged the actor to face the music.
“Sabi ko sa kanya ayusin niya ‘yan [BIR case]. Mahirap kalaban ang BIR. Hindi mo puedeng takbuhan ‘yan,” said Lolit.
