Aug 20, 2010

MANILA – The National Police Commission (Napolcom) on Thursday said that majority of the unliquidated cash advances included in the report of the Office of the Ombudsman was made by their officials and employees who have already retired, Absent Without Official Leave (AWOL) or have long been separated from service. “Several demand letters have been sent to the subject officials and employees but no response have been received from them so far,” Napolcom Vice Chair and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta said.

But Escueta assured Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez that they are doing everything to account for the persons and their cash advances. “In no time these unliquidated cash advances will be paid because we, at the Napolcom, is exhausting all available means to locate the accountable officers,” he added.
