Jolo Revilla discharged from hospital

MUNTINLUPA CITY – Good news to the family of Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Rep. Lani Mercado. Their eldest, Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla was discharged from the Asian Hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa City last Sunday.
Revilla family spokesperson Atty. Raymond Fortun made the announcement, pointing out that the young Revilla was recovering fast from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
“Gusto ng pamilya na magrecuperate (si Jolo) sa bahay na lang,” Fortun said, explaining the early discharge from the hospital.
The vice governor will be staying at the Revilla house in Ayala Alabang Village.
Revilla was discharged a day after undergoing operation at the hospital on Saturday where his chest tube was removed and his gunshot wound closed by doctors.

About a week earlier, the detained senator was allowed to visit his son at the hospital as his condition was deteriorating then.
The young Revilla could not help but cry upon seeing his father at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City where the Cavite vice governor was rushed after accidentally shooting his right chest with his .40 Glock handgun.
The elder Revilla, who has been detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City since June 2014 on plunder and graft charges, was able to see his son after the Sandiganbayan granted his plea to see Jolo for five hours.
Actress Jodi Sta. Maria continued to show her support for boyfriend Jolo Revilla while he recuperated at the hospital. It was not known if she also visited him at the Revilla house in Ayala Alabang where the vice governor went to continue to recuperate.
A picture sent by Revilla’s mother, Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado, showed the actor-politician with Sta. Maria, as well as their respective sons posing with them, it was reported by ABS-CBN.

Since Revilla was rushed to the hospital more than a week ago, Sta. Maria has stayed at his bedside until he already felt better, according to Mercado.
The Revilla family has expressed their gratitude to the actress, saying they are grateful for her support during this difficult time.
Sta. Maria first confirmed her relationship with the young Revilla in late 2012.
Lolit Solis, talent manager of Bong and Jolo, earlier said the vice governor had vomited blood but according to doctors, it was normal for a person who had undergone surgery.
“Nagsuka ng dugo pero sabi ng doktor it’s normal pag inoperahan ka,” she said.
Jolo’s girlfriend, actress Jodi Sta. Maria, called the doctor after noticing that the vice governor’s stomach had bloated, according to Solis.
“Then all of a sudden, napansin talaga ni Jodi na malaki ang tiyan. Tinawag ang doktor kaya naalarma sila,”
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has formed a composite team led by Southern Police District Director Henry Ranola to investigate the February 28 incident and find out whether Jolo had indeed shot himself accidentally or it was self-inflicted.
NCRPO Director Police Superintendent Carmelo Valmoria told reporters that he had not yet received information from his men whether the Revilla family was cooperating with investigators.
The Sandiganbayan granted on March 2 a five-hour furlough for detained Sen. Revilla Jr. to visit his son at the hospital in Muntinlupa City. The senator had expressed sadness over the fate of his actor-vice governor son.
Revilla’s lawyer Ramon Esguerra said the Sandiganbayan First Division allowed the senator from Cavite to visit his son of the Asian Hospital from 3 p.m. up to 8 p.m.
The Revilla camp earlier asked for a three-hour furlough but amended it to five hours after ascertaining that the time was too short considering the heavy traffic they might encounter in going to and from the hospital.
Esguerra said that Revilla was allowed by the court to leave the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center at Camp Crame, where he is currently detained due to corruption charges, one hour before the scheduled 3 p.m.-8 p.m. visit.
Reports said the younger Revilla suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the chest over the weekend while cleaning his pistol in his house in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Jolo’s showbiz manager Lolit Solis, in an interview, said the young Revilla is suffering from stress since his father was detained in Camp Crame.
In his motion, Senator Revilla said “it is his obligation to visit his son to ensure that he is already safe and in a stable medical condition.”
Revilla is currently facing plunder and multiple graft charges for allegedly earning kickbacks and commissions worth P224 million after channeling his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) to bogus non-governmental organizations (NGOs) controlled by businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, the suspected Pork Barrel Scam mastermind.
According to Fortun, Jolo thought of cleaning his government-issued firearm while he was waiting for his mother. He said the vice-governor accidentally pulled the trigger not knowing that there was a bullet left in the handgun’s chamber.
“Habang naghihintay naisipan niyang linisin ang kanyang government issued na firearm. Ito po’y isang Glock .40 na handgun. Nagkamali po talaga siya, hindi niya namalayan habang nililinis niya, nakalabit niya ‘ata ‘yong trigger,” said Fortun.
“Sa akin pong pagkakaintindi, hindi yata nasilip na mayro’ng isang bullet na nando’n pala sa chamber,” the lawyer added.
