GOOD NEWS! A SAVIOR WAS BORN

Our greatest need is salvation so God sent a Savior. “And, lo, the angel of the Lord shone round about them. And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good news of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:9-11)
The good news is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Jesus is a human title and it means He is the Savior. Matthew 1:21 “And thou shall call his name Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins.” Christ is a Hebrew title He and it means the Sufficient One and the fulfillment of all the promises and prophecies beginning at the Garden of Eden. Christ is the Anointed One and the Son of God. Lord is the Sovereign One. He is the One to be served, to be worshipped and to be adored. Savior means the Saving One and Deliverer. It signifies His life as a sacrifice on the cross.
Jesus Christ our Lord left His throne in Heaven with all His glory because of you and me. He went to the cross and gave His life to pay the penalty of all our sins. “I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
God looks at our hearts. He knows very well if there is pride in our hearts. And He knows our self-righteous acts that are very unacceptable in His sight. God wants us to repent of our sins, to surrender our lives to Him, to depend on Him and to bow down upon Him completely. “I came not to call the righteous (self-righteous) but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32)
The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector is a good example of a self-righteous exalting himself and a sinner crying out for forgiveness of his sins. (Luke 18:9-14)
9 – To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable.
10 – Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other tax collector.
11 – The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed; God, I thank you that I am not like other people – robbers, evil-doers, adulterers – or even like this tax collector.
12 – I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.
13 – But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to Heaven, but beat his breast and said, “God have mercy on me, a sinner.”
14 – “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
There are some people who are claiming, there are many ways to go to Heaven. That is very deceptive and a very wrong belief. Jesus did not say this is the way to go to Heaven, He did not say I will show you the way to go to Heaven. He did not say there is another way to go to Heaven. But Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6)
To be saved, I am the way. To be sure I am the truth. To be satisfied I am the life.
Dear friends, may I encourage you, to accept the Good News our Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Redeemer. If you accept Him today, beloved friends, God will give you eternal life because His life is eternal. When you become the child of God, every day is like Christmas because you have Christ in you, within you and with you for all eternity. THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS!
