Disney picks Sarah to perform ‘Princess’ theme song

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo is the newest “star” of Disney.
No, she’s not appearing in a Disney movie but will interpret the theme song of its highly popular “Princess” franchise.
This was reported no less by Sarah’s mother studio, the ABS-CBN network, on its website.
Sarah, in a commercial aired on Disney Channel, revealed that she will be singing her version of “The Glow,” which is a song from the movie “Tangled,” for their “Princess” franchise.
The song was originally performed by Shannon Saunders.
Earlier, another ABS-CBN mainstay, actress Kim Chiu, was chosen by Disney to portray as princess Mulan in a calendar for Southeast Asia.
Kim was ecstatic about her new role.

“Achievement ko siya sa buhay, childhood dream ko maging isa sa mga Disney Princess!” she said. “Nung in-offer sa akin, nakakatuwa na nakakaiyak. ‘Totoo ba na gagawin niyo akong Mulan?’”
Kim added: “Sobra akong saya and overwhelmed ‘yung puso ko dahil isa ako sa pinili nilang gumanap ng Mulan and excited ako maipakita ko ‘to sa lahat for next year.”
In a teaser aired on Disney Channel, the 26-year-old Sarah said that she has recorded her own version of “The Glow,” whose music video will premiere on December 6.
According her mother network, the teaser generated excitement among Sarah’s fans online, making “Sarah G. The New Disney Princess” zoom up as a worldwide trend on micro-blogging site Twitter.
“The Glow” was originally performed by English singer Shannon Saunders and debuted in 2011 to coincide with the induction of the character Rapunzel, from the 2010 animated film “Tangled,” as an official Disney Princess.
Meanwhile, the pop star was reported to be looking more relaxed now.
A columnist, Joey Aquino, attributed Sarah’s new outlook to boyfriend actor Matteo Guidicelli.
“That’s what love brings her. At least, the Pop Star no longer keeps her lovelife secret. Her relationship with Matteo Guidicelli seems to be going stronger. Let’s give credit to the couple as they are not afraid to profess their love for each other despite the public’s microscopic scrutiny,” the columnist wrote.
If her lovelife is in full bloom, so is her career, according to the columnist. Just recently, she was voted as the Best Southeast Asia Act at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards. And her being coach in “The Voice of the Philippines” proves that she is one of the country’s well-respected artists. Also, a movie project with Piolo Pascual is in the bag. That is one project that her fans will look forward to next year.
