  QUESTIONS OF FAITH

Why do people reject God’s gift of salvation?

People reject God’s gift of salvation because they have so many excuses. Some people think they don’t need God because they are not sinners. The Bible says, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8)
Some say, they have only small sin, why do they need to worry? Sin is a sin, small sin is still a sin. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)
Others think God cannot forgive them because they are big sinners. “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
Some people are complaining they keep on trying to seek Christ but they cannot find Him. Jesus said, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13)
Some old folks are doubtful to seek God because they are too old. There is no age limit in accepting God’s gift of salvation. God can save us even on our last breath – if only we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. The thief who accepted Christ on the cross cried out to Jesus, “Lord remember me when thou comest unto thy Kingdom.” And Jesus answered him, “Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43)
Some people are struggling to do their best thinking they can survive without God. Without God we are nothing. We are spiritually dead, dead in trespasses and sin. So the best thing we can do without God is to go to our destruction. And we will be separated from Him for all eternity. “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (Isaiah 64:6)
Some people are too proud and they say, “I am good enough as I am.” Nobody is good; only God is good. We are all sinners, by birth, by nature and by practice.
As it is written, “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Romans 3:10-12)
Some people are over protective of their religion. If they hear the Word of God, they say, “I am very religious and I will not change my religion.” Religion is man’s way and man-made trying to reach God. But God’s offer is relationship. Just believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and Redeemer and you will become a child of God. “But as many as received Him to them gave the power to become a child of God.” (John 1:12) Religion cannot save us. Only Jesus Christ can save us. He paid the penalty of our sin debt in full with His atoning blood. Without His precious blood that was shed on the cross, there is no remission of sin. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
Some people think that a loving God does not allow people to go to Hell. God’s plan in creating us so wonderfully is to make us His children to be with Him in Heaven forever and ever. He loves us so dearly and He wants us to love Him back with all our hearts, not by force so He gave us our own free will. Hell was created by God for Satan and his army of hosts, the demons (fallen angels). Now if you go to Hell on your own free will, you are an intruder. Our Heavenly Father loves us unconditionally so He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him (Jesus Christ) will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and Savior and He will save you and your name will be written in the Book of Life. “And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)

Some people were deceived by Satan, the prince of darkness. Their eyes were blinded with his lies for he is the father of lies. They cannot see the danger that lies ahead. And even though the Lord is knocking on their hearts to offer His gift of salvation, they just harden their hearts and say NOT NOW. Every time you say NO, NOT NOW, it is more difficult to say YES.
“Whereas you know not what shall be on the marrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time and then vanished away.” (James 4:14) The Lord Jesus Christ is waiting for you to let Him in. Will you act now before it’s too late? God is offering His gift of salvation to all.
Some people can respond right away without any excuses and they say the best time is NOW because it’s all by the grace of God. God gives us the saving faith to convict us and soften our hearts and make Him the Lord and Savior of our life. “Today if you will hear His voice harden not your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:15) THE TIME AND DAY IS NOW.
