A man who didn’t believe in God but led a very righteous life died in the process of saving a boy’s life, will he go to hell just the same? But will a murderer on death row who accepted God as his Lord and Savior before his death go to heaven?
Our salvation is a free gift of God and He is offering it to all of us. Whosoever will believe in the Lord Jesus will not perish but have everlasting life. We don’t have to do anything but just have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ plus nothing. It is the grace of God we cannot earn it, and we don’t deserve it. “For by grace are ye saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9.
While it is good and noble that a man who tried to lead a righteous life and even saved the life of another at the cost of his own, if he died without accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, without believing in God, he still cannot enter the Kingdom of heaven. He will perish in hell. “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. They are all gone out of way, they are together unprofitable, there is none that doeth good, no not one.” Romans 3:10-12
We are all sinners, by birth, by nature and by practice. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”.
Romans 3:3
“And if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8
We all inherited the sin of Adam and Eve when they fell into sin. Their spirits died and they were separated from God because of sin. When we were born our spirits are also dead and we are separated from God because of sin. “We are all unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags, and we all fade as a leaf and our iniquities like the wind taken us away.” Isaiah 64:6
But God loves us so that “He sent his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).Jesus Christ is God. He left His throne and glory in Heaven. He came down here on earth for only one reason, to die on the cross to pay our debt sin in full. We cannot add or subtract or alter of what Jesus did on the cross. He already paid the penalty of our sins past, present and future. He died once and for all. It is finished. It is a done deal.
And the bad news is, “he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18
Without God you are nothing. Your life is a curse. You are on your own, trying to be good and struggling to work your way to Heaven. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
You are bound to hell because you don’t have Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. And your name was not written in the Book of Life. “And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast onto the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Revelation 20:14
This is eternal death in hell and you will be separated from Jesus Christ forever.
Now here’s a murderer on death row who accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and Redeemer, will surely go to Heaven to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember when Jesus was crucified on the cross in between two thieves. The one on the right believed in Jesus Christ and accepted him as his Lord and Savior. He cried out, “Lord remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom, and Jesus said unto him, verily I say unto thee today, thou shalt be with me in Paradise. Luke 23:42-43
When you accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, now it’s all good news. Your spirit is now alive because the Spirit of God is now living in you. You are not alone anymore. “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
There is no more curse in your life. Your life now is profitable, abundant, not wasted because it’s God’s kind of life. You have now the life of God in you. You are the child of God and your name was written in the Book of Life. You are bound to Heaven. Your last breath here on earth will be your first breath in Heaven. Jesus promised, “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go and prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto Myself, that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3
This is the blessed hope that the children of God are waiting for to see the Lord face to face and to be with Him in Heaven forever.
So dear friends, if you have not accepted yet the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, will you accept Him now? To accept Him is very personal. We have to make a decision with all our heart. And hundreds of thousands of angels are rejoicing in Heaven for one sinner to come to the Lord (Luke 15:10). Believe in God’s grace for itr is only by His grace that we can be saved.
