Showbiz has swirled with rumors that real husband and wife Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales have called it quits.
The rumors were fanned by a blind item detailing the alleged separation of a celebrity couple. The item, however, did not name names.
In the blind item, the actress, Charlene Mae Gonzales Bonnin-Muhlach, a former Binibining Pilipinas Universe title holder, allegedly decided to end their relationship after she found out about the actor’s affair with a 20-year-old dancer.
According to the rumors, the couple agreed to keep their status private and just stay at the same house but sleep in separate bedrooms to protect their family’s endorsements.
Showbiz fans and netizens readily speculated that the item was referring to Aga, whose real name is Ariel Aquino Muhlach, and Charlene Gonzales. Aga now hosts a show with the Kapatid Network TV5.
Many supporters of the couple, however, said they did not believe the rumors, pointing out that they love each other and supported each other, come hell and high water, just like in Aga’s failed congressional bid in Camarines Sur.
The couple continues silence on the rumors, refusing to dignify the rumors that they have separated.
In another report, the couple, however, was quoted to have finally ended the rumors about their marriage once and for all as Aga Muhlach directly denied the speculations in a published report.
“Thank you for your concern my friend. Really appreciate it. Hayaan na natin sila. We’re all good, no worries,” the actor told PEP in a Facebook message.
Charlene’s mother, Elvie, has denied the rumors in a report of newspaper Remate, saying “Not true. Bayaan mo na, basta happy sila.”
One writer compared the couple to Ricky Davao-Jackielou Blanco and Janno Gibbs-Bing Loyzaga, who are said to be still living together but now occupy separate rooms.
Followers of Aga and Charlene insist they don’t believe on the rumor that the couple were headed to Splitsville.
They said Aga even just greeted Charlene on social media for the occasion of their 13th wedding anniversary on May 28. Later, Aga even posted two videos on Facebook on how Charlene prepared an elaborate way of surprising him to greet him a happy anniversary in a very memorable manner.
“We’ve seen the videos and they look so much like a happy couple. Their children Andres and Atasha helped in preparing the surprise for Aga and they seem to be a very happy family,” one columnist reported.
In the video recorded by Muhlach himself, the actor was seen following a trail of white petals leading to a surprise special breakfast by Gonzales for their 13th wedding anniversary.
“Good morning, guys! I woke up to this,” Muhlach said in the video, referring to his wife’s early morning surprise, “Man, oh man! She always does this to me.”
Muhlach also posted on Instagram a photo of him and Gonzales together at the recently concluded Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards.
Charlene herself later posted on Instagram photos of their anniversary dinner and the bouquet of flowers Aga gave to her. Aga thanked her “for being the perfect wife. I love you with all my life.”
It was learned that the couple is seriously thinking of suing the author of the anonymous letter who posted the malicious letter reporting their breakup on social media.
