Jessica Sanchez wows Pinoys again, sad with Malaya’s elimination in AI

Filipino American singer and American Idol runnerup Jessica Sanchez made her countrymen all over the world, in the Philippines and the United States most especially, proud again.
This time with her superb rendition of the Philippine National Anthem, “Lupang Hinirang,” during the fight of Manny Pacquiao against Timothy Bradley Jr. at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The teenage FilAm singer from San Diego, California whose mother is from Bataan belted out the national anthem in high pitch and nailed it.
Some noted some mispronounciation in the words while others thought she did it a little slower than the marching tempo, but overall she gave justice to the “Lupang Hinirang” considering that she does not speak good Filipino or Tagalog.
“Kaya niya. Taas ng boses at wow, galing ng quality,” many Filipinos who saw her performance said in unison.
Meanwhile, the FilAm singer expressed sadness over the elimination of FilAm tuba player Malaya Watson in the 13th season of the American Idol.
Jessica earlier aired her support for Malaya.

She said while visiting Manila early March that she heared Malaya was doing good then.
“ Good luck to you. I’m here to support,” Jessica said then.
She gave Malaya this piece of advice: “Just stay strong, don’t give up even if there are haters out there.”
Malaya’s rendition of Chaka Khan’s “Through The Fire” in the Top 7 performance did not receive high marks from judges and viewers alike, according to reports, resulting to her elimination.
On Twitter, Jessica expressed her displeasure over the matter, stating “Mad about it. @MalayaTinaB should have been safe.”
