Bracing up for 2015


The outbreak of Ebola virus epidemic in February in West Africa infecting over 19,000 people and killing at least 7,000 people, the most severe both in terms of numbers of infections and casualties, ushered us early into the challenges of the year 2014. On Obama’s immigration action: Well done, Mr. President


President Barack Obama’s executive action staying the deportation of some 300,000 of them and some 4 million others of various nationalities who have been in the US for the last five years certainly gave relief and hope to thousands of fellow Filipinos, allowing them to surface in the open and work or study. Although thousands of other illegal immigrants have not been covered as yet, it is something that all those who qualified can look forward to starting February next year when applications will be accepted. No term extension for Pnoy


Finally, Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III made it clear that he has no intentions of extending his stay in Malacanang by seeking a second term in office. In clear terms, the Chief Executive said at a Makati forum with CEOs: “There are some quarters that were saying I should try and go for a second term. On four-day workweek in Metro Manila


The Civil Service Commission has approved the implementation of four-day workweek in government offices in Metro Manila under certain conditions. Under the scheme, work will be stretched from eight to ten hours a day to be able to drop a day in the work week.
