Don’t look now, but actor Gabby Concepcion is hurting with what happened to his daughter, KC Concepcion.
In fact, Gabby admitted that he is mad with the guy who broke his daughter’s heart.
Gabby disclosed his feelings as he talked at the presscon of Regal Entertainment’s Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” and this was reported by showbiz authority and columnists Ethel Ramos and Mario Bautista in their latest columns.
Gabby had said that he was speaking not as an actor, but as a father who is hurting, just like his daughter KC.
Gabby said what KC is going through at the moment is an open book, all because she fell in love deeply with Piolo Pascual.
When KC and Piolo separated because what she discovered about the actor, Gabby said he was among the first persons KC talked to.
The actor who stayed for many years in San Francisco, California, admitted he has never seen KC feel that way. “That’s why he is mad at the guy who had made her cry,” Ethel reported.
“My daughter is still hurting but mas okay na siya ngayon,” he said.
“As much as possible, ayoko sana pag-usapan ito. It’s their life. But I’m also hurting. I’m mad at the person who hurt my daughter’s feelings. It’s a normal reaction for a father.” he said.
Gabby continued: “ Tingin ko lang, ang mga taong manliligaw sa anak ko, sa umpisa pa lang, dapat tunay na. Hindi tayo dapat magpakita ng sinasabi nila na ‘best foot forward.’ It really boils down to intention. Ano ba naman ‘yung sabihin mo, ‘Sir, I have the best intentions for your daughter.’
Does he believe the talk going around about Piolo’s sexuality? That he is allegedly gay?
Gabby did not categorically answer the question but said he has heard about it. “Marami akong tsismis na naririnig… sa internet, sa mga taong may kredibilidad. Hindi ko alam kung anong paniniwalaan ko. Basta’t marami akong naririnig,” he said.
He said he advised KC but refused to reveal what she had told her daughter.
“ I’d rather that we keep it between us,” he said. “The matter, after all, is private. Very private. .”
Ethel Ramos reported that “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” is Gabby’s first movie after a long hiatus with Regal Entertainment, the outfit which gave him his first break as an acto.
Gabby remarried in the United States after getting an annulment from second wife, Jenny Syquia.
He and his wife now have a three-year-old daughter.
KC is Gabby’s daughter with first wife, Sharon Cuenta. Chloe is his daughter with Jenny, who is now married to a foreigner abroad.
He has a love child, Garrie, with Grace Ibuna.
His decision to return to the country and resume his showbiz career is an open book. “Yesterday Today and Tomorrow” is his third movie since his comeback. His first two films were produced by Star Cinema. One of them co-starred him with KC and Jericho Rosales.
Gabby said he is excited about “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” because the movie is an explosive family drama, which allows him to reunite with one of his former favorite leading ladies, Maricel Soriano.
“Actually, ang daming nagawa naming pelikulang pinagtambalan ni Maricel,” Gabby recalled. “At ‘di sa pagbubuhat ng bangko, they were mostly pretty good movies. Kaya kumita ng malaki sa takilya.”
Aside from Jericho, his co-star in a movie for Star Cinema, and Ronaldo Valdez who, he knew, he had done several movies with, all the rest of the “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” cast – Dennis Trillo, Lovie Poe, Carla Abellana, Solenn Heusaff, Paulo Avelino, Eula Caballero and Agot Isidro – are all working with him for the first time.
“Ang gagaling nila,” Gabby stated, especially of his younger co-stars. “Compared to me when I was myself starting as an actor, ‘di hamak na mas magagaling sila.”
